Atami Castle

Also known as Atamijo, this “castle” is in fact a pure tourist attraction that was built in 1959 on a mountain top overlooking the city of Atami, despite the fact that Atami never had any castle in its history!

To be fair, Atamijo is a good looking castle from the outside and with a stunning view of Atami from its observatory deck. But beside these two major features, and maybe its small museum, Atami Castle is in many ways a cheap attraction.. So unless you are planning to shoot some gorgeous photos of Atami, don’t waste your time visiting the place, just enjoy the view of Atami of this well designed, but fake, Edo period castle.
