Senso-ji at Asakusa is one of Tokyo most popular and beloved Buddhist Temple! According to the legend, in the year 628 two brothers fished a beautiful statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy, in the Sumida river. Thinking they disturb the resting place of Kannon, they decided to put back the statue back in the river, but, each time they try to do so, the statue magically returned to them. It is after many attempts that they understood that Kannon wanted them to erect a temple for her, and it was decided at that very moment to build what we now all know as the Senso-Ji temple.
