Founded in 1869, the Yokohama Kanteibyo, Guan Di Miao, 横滨关帝庙, by a Chinese migrant that brought a sculpture of Guan Gong, turned this temple into a small "hot spot" for all Chinese migrant in 1871 as their most important place in worship in the area. Destroyed in 1923 by the Great Kanto earthquake and suffered damages during the 1945 Allies air attack then later in 1981 and 1986 damaged by Fire, today Kanteibyo is quite different from the original version and this thanks to the help of the local community that each time build a better and more beautiful version of the original temple.
