Located in Kamogawa City in Chiba prefecture, Oyama is an hour and a half drive from the center of Tokyo. Oyama is the closest terraced rice field to Tokyo, and also the only one of its kind in Japan! Unlike other rice fields, the Oyama rice field grows rice with only rainwater and without any other means of irrigation.
Open all year long, the Oyama rice terraces are best enjoyed at sunrise around the middle of April. Also, note that the Oyama Rice Terraces feature a nice parking area with clean and modern restroom.
