三峯神社
Saitama Kanto Summer Daytime Temples & Shrines

About This Video

Mitsumine Shrine, located on top of Mount Mitsumine, is one of 3 major shrines in Chichibu, Saitama and by far the oldest! According to the legends, Mitsumine Shrine was apparently founded around the first century during the reign of the 12th Emperor of Japan: Keiko. It is only centuries later, between the 8th to the 19th centuries that many precincts were added by the monks of Mitsumine Shrine, including for example the actual main shrine, which was erected in 1661. Mitsumine is also famous for the deities that it enshrines. Indeed, Mitsumine Shrine counts as its guest the god Izanami and his wife the goddess Izanagi who, according to the Japanese mythology, created Japan.
