Kamigoten Ryokan

上御殿
Wakayama Kansai Autumn Daytime Onsen & Ryokan

About This Video

Located an hour or so by car from Koyasan in the small Onsen village of Ryujin, Kamigoten is a small ryokan with a unique history. Built in 1657, Kamitogen was actually designed to please Yorinobu Tokugawa, a Japanese Feudal lord of Kinokuni. Built for his personal comfort, Kamigoten features a beautiful set of baths with a gorgeous open air-onsen and a unique view over Ryujin river.

What’s more astonishing here, is that it is still possible today to enjoy and sleep in the exact same room as the lord Yorinobu Tokugawa, as well as being served by a descendant of the original owners of Kamigoten, which also happens to attend to the lord Yorinobu Tokugawa every needs!
