About This Video
On the beautiful Lake Biwa, Japan’s biggest natural lake, you will find the small island of Chikubu (Chikubu-Shima) where you will find Shiga more remote temples with Tsukubusuma-Jinja Shrine and the famous Hogon-Ji Temple (Hogonji), founded on the island by the priest Gyoki(668-749).
The Benzaiten (Sarasvati) at Hogonji Temple is known as one of the three best in Japan and among the 30th most visited location on the Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage.
Also, it is said that Hogonji Temple gabled Karamon gate is the only remaining piece of Hideyoshi’s Osaka-jo Castle, and it is a registered national treasure alongside the main shrine at Tsukubusuma-Jinja Shrine.
