Roppongi is one of those extreme areas in Tokyo. As many others in the city it is very different in the day and at night. But here the contrast is rather extreme. In the day it is a huge business district, full of big companies, well dressed people, and families coming to the local high end shopping malls (Roppongi Hills and Tokyo Midtown). In the night it becomes an vast entertainment zone, full of bars, night clubs (some even say drugs and girls…). Some friends of mine used to spend some time there even describe it as a “jungle”, but obviously enjoy its atmosphere and its crazy night clubs:)
