Omiya Koen (The Sakura Guide)

The Spot

Located approximately forty minutes away from Shibuya, and actually outside of Tokyo, Omiya Koen hosts more than 1,200 sakura trees and unlike Tokyo, the park is pretty much empty of foreigners. Featuring many small food stalls, Omiya Koen offers the most picturesque Japanese experience that you could wish for and is definitely worth the long trip needed to reach it.
Note that this park also includes the quaint little Museum of History and Japanese Folklore, open most days, except Mondays, from 09:00 to 16:30.
